Earth day, that is, April 22 every year, is a festival specially established for world environmental protection. It aims to raise people's awareness of existing environmental problems, mobilize people to participate in environmental protection campaigns and improve the overall environment of the earth through green and low-carbon life. Earth Day was launched by Gaylord Nelson and Dennis Hayes in 1970. Today, the celebration of Earth Day has developed to 192 countries around the world, with more than 1 billion people participating every year, making it the largest folk environmental protection festival in the world.
April 22, 2021 is the 52nd world earth day. According to the notice of the general office of the Ministry of natural resources on organizing the 52nd World Earth Day theme publicity week, the theme of this year's World Earth Day is still "cherish the earth and live in harmony with nature", and this theme will continue to be used during the 14th Five Year Plan period.
Since the beginning of this century, people have conquered nature and demanded from nature, causing irreversible damage to the earth. Climate warming is the first of the top ten environmental problems in the world.
Human activities are the main cause of global warming, and greenhouse gas emissions accelerate global warming. If greenhouse gas emissions are not controlled, the global climate system will be further warmed, which will lead to the loss of resilience of the earth system and enter the unstable state of "hot chamber earth". The climate risk faced by the global natural ecosystem and human society will increase, and even face the disaster of roof extinction.
What we call "carbon" refers to all kinds of greenhouse gases emitted from human production and life. In order to facilitate statistical calculation, people convert these greenhouse gases into carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2) according to the degree of impact, so carbon dioxide is often used to refer to greenhouse gases.
The 2020 central economic work conference listed "doing a good job in carbon peak and carbon neutralization" as one of the key tasks in 2021. China promises to achieve carbon peak in 2030 and carbon neutralization in 2060.
Carbon peak
Peak carbon dioxide emissions refers to that the carbon dioxide emissions of a region and industry reach the highest peak in a period of time (generally in years), then enter the platform period and may fluctuate within a certain range, and then enter the stage of steady decline. It marks the transformation of economic development from high energy consumption and high emission to clean and low energy consumption.
Carbon neutralization
Carbon neutrality, that is, net zero emission, refers to the carbon emission necessary for human economic and social activities, which is captured, utilized or stored through forest carbon sink and other artificial technologies or engineering means, so that the net increase of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere is zero.
3、 The foundation for China to put forward the "3060" carbon target
In 2015, China submitted to the United Nations the "strengthening action against climate change - China's national independent contribution", took the lead in issuing the "China's national programme for implementing the 2030 agenda for sustainable development", deposited the instrument of ratification of the Paris agreement with the United Nations, and set four independent action goals by 2030, That is, carbon dioxide emissions will peak around 2030 and strive to reach the peak as soon as possible. Moreover, the implementation progress of China's national independent contribution is better than expected, and the three independent action goals promised to be completed in 2020 have been completed ahead of schedule.
China has actively participated in the international community's carbon emission reduction, actively complied with the global trend of green and low-carbon development, and actively arranged carbon neutralization. It has the conditions to achieve carbon neutralization. President Xi Jinping proposed at the September 2020 UN biodiversity summit that China will adopt more effective policies and measures to strive for carbon neutralization by 2060, and make greater efforts and contributions to achieve climate change.

We all belong to nature. Everyone needs to take the initiative to make the earth free of "carbon gas". Turn off the computer in time, open a window, bring your own shopping bag, feel the nature and plant a tree...
